Well this is the end of my Real GOAT, but to give you all a treat at the end lets talk a little bit about cinderella's. Everyone loves them. Cinderella stories are always a very intriguing and exciting part of sports. Everyone loves them and it really turns people who aren't fans of the sport into fans. It's like TV stations or games get much higher ratings. Usually this cinderella's don't happen in the professional sports, the higher ranked or higher seeded team usually wins the game. It's more common in college for lower seeded teams or smaller schools to defeat larger ones, especially in the Men's College Basketball tournament. There is even one still alive in the College Baseball tournament. Stony Brook a number four seed in their regional, swept the regional and is currently one win away from going to the College World Series. They will take on #7 National seed LSU later tonight in a winner-take-all game 3. What I'm really writing this blog about though, is the LA Kings. This is a team who at the all-star break wasn't even at .500, and fired their coach. At the trade deadline they picked up a nice player in Jeff Carter from the Philadelphia Flyers. And that was when everything started to turn around. They started winning, other teams started losing, and it started to seem as if they had a chance at getting back into the playoff race. And they did. Just barely squeaking in after some wins in the last couple games of the season. Being the last seed, they obviously had to take on the #1 seed, which was the Edmonton Oilers. They swept them, and then won in 5 against the Phoenix Coyotes. Do they head into the Stanley Cup not having lost a game on the road, and they win the first three games against the Devils. They finally lose a game on the road in game 5, and will look to finally close out their red hot streak of wins. Once again thank you all who tuned in to the REAL GOAT, it has been fun.

#2 Greatest Sports Team of All Time: Chicago Bulls
Continuing with the Greatest Sports Team of All Time theme, we have gotten around to #2 on my list. Now this is a little tough. There are many teams that are in contention, but without any further adue, the #2 Greatest Sports Team of All Time is the is the Chicago Bulls. Honestly I'm not a fan of the Bulls. Actually I kinda hate them, especially the Joakim Noah's of the world. That guy is unbelievable terrible and annoying and ugly. But I'm talking back in the Jordan era. Now I'm not really a fan of him either, mainly because of the constant trash talking of all the experts between him and James, which is really unnecessary by the way. But those teams that they had back in the 80s were phenomenal. Six NBA Finals Championships they had in that era. Now maybe they had one of the best players ever, but that's not only what it was. You had the help of Pippen and Steve Kerr and they definitely produced. They nearly led the NBA in both offense and defense, finishing No. 1 in points (105.2) and No. 3 in points allowed (92.9). The Celtics or Lakers never came close to doing that. Chicago's average margin of victory was 12.2 points -- in a lower-scoring environment than the '80s. And the Celtics or Lakers never had margin even as great as 10 points per game. Chicago's average margin of victory was 12.2 points -- in a lower-scoring environment than the '80s. And the Celtics or Lakers never had margin even as great as 10 points per game. The Bulls beat the 60-win Magic in the East finals and then the 64-win Sonics in the Finals. None of the three other NBA teams on this list beat even one 60-win team in the playoffs. The #2 Greatest Sports Team of All Time is the Chicago Bulls.
#1 Greatest Sports Team of All Time: New York Yankees
Well now lets get into teams a little bit shall we? And The #1 Greatest Team of All Time is the New York Yankees. The Major League Baseball season is in full swing right now and the New York Yankees are finally into their groove. They've won 9 of their last 11 games and just recently swept cross town rival the New York Mets. The most recent of those three wins came off of a walk-off home run by catcher Russell Martin. Everything seems to be coming together now, the pitching has been much better and the Bronx Bombers have climbed up the ladder from 4th place in the division up to a half a game back of the Tampa Bay Rays in 2nd place. It seems as though they've been able to get over the Mariano Rivera loss for the season with the ACL tear. David Robertson and Rafael Soriano have stepped up big time into that closer role. But the big story of late, is Mark Teixeira. Every Yankee fan knows that Mark always gets off to rough starts hitting wise in the beginning of the season. It's just what he does he tries to correct and for some reason he can't. It's been like this his entire career with any team. But lately he has been on a tear. He is finally out of his slump, good news to Yankees fans. But what's really stood out is the power he has displayed lately. Nevertheless, the Yankees are always in the conversation at the end, you can count on that. They are looking for their 28th World Series Championship, ans will stop at nothing to get it. Hopefully with all the experience the team has, they will be able to accomplish their goal. Especially since the careers of some of the veterans like Jeter, and Rivera, and Pettitte. are coming to an end very soon. The #1 Greatest Team of All Time is the New York Yankees.
#2 Greatest Sports Moment of All Time: 2011 World Cup Quarterfinal USA vs. Brazil
Throughout these last 200 years there has been a sporting event every day. No matter what sport it is, either football, basketball, baseball, hockey, golf, racing, soccer, tennis, volleyball, swimming, track & field, cricket, water polo, handball, or squash, someone is playing. Honestly I can pretty much guarantee that there is someone playing a sport as we speak. Or type ahaha. But the #2 Moment in Sports History is in the game of soccer. The 2011 World Cup in the Women's side of it. Abby Wambach, now the star of the United States Women's National Team headed in a goal against Brazil in the quarterfinal game in extra time. The Americans were down by one at the time, in the 122' it looked like it was about to be the worst World Cup in Women's soccer history. They had about a minute to get the ball from their own side of the field all the way to the other side of the field. Looking down and out for the count, the ball was advanced to Megan Rapinoe, she then placed a perfect ball over a Brazilian defender and the Brazilian goalkeeper, and it hit Abby Wambach in the head as she struck the ball into the net. I watched this event live and I will never forget it. Bob Ley had the call and I will never forget his words, "OHHHHHH CAN YOU BELIEVE IT! ABBY WAMBACH HAS SAVED THE USA'S LIFE!" The Americans ended up wininng the game in penalty kicks, and it will go down as potentially the greatest soccer game ever played. This game put US Women’s soccer back on the map. It still gives me the chills every time I see it. #2 on the list of Greatest Moments in Sports History, USA vs. Brazil World Cup Quarterfinal game.
#1 Greatest Sports Moment of All Time: 1980 Miracle Game
Now we've been through the top two athletes in sports of all
time, so let’s take a little break and head over to the greatest moments in
sports of all time. This list could and will go on forever, and it will
keep growing as time goes on. But for right now, we have no make the
decisions as to what should be atop the list. And after much conversation
about the topic, there has been a unanimous decision. The #1 Greatest
Moment in Sports of All Time is the Miracle Game, between the United States and
the Soviet Union in the 1980 Olympics. This game was unbelievable, the US
was written off, the people said they had no chance, and in the heat of the
Cold War, this game was huge for the people in America. By far, one of
the greatest hockey games ever. Now most of the kids around my age or a
little bit older doesn’t know too much about it. But we all got our
information from the movie "Miracle" now this movie, this movie was
awesome. I'll never forget those last 10 seconds where everyone is
counting down in the arena and the commentator goes, "Do you believe in
miracles?!?!?" It gives me the chills every time. If you ask a
lot of people who were around back then, it is one of those things where you
remember where you were when it happened.
I don’t really know if the Olympics will ever get back to this kind of
stature it had during the 1980 Winter Olympics.
I mean it almost did a couple years ago when the US played Canada in the
Gold Medal Game, but they lost in overtime.
With that and everything else we’ve talked about that is why the 1980
Miracle Game is the #1 Sports Moment of All Time.
#2 Greatest Player of All Time: Bo Jackson
This time around we are going to stick with players, and the
#2 Greatest Player of All Time is an athlete who played multiple sports in his
time. A lot of people wrote him off at times, but he prevailed in every sport,
he was just a flat out beast and could not be stopped. This guy is Bo
Jackson. Bo played football and baseball, baseball being his first love
he went to the league in 1986, and after missing football at Auburn he told the
press that if picked he would play football as well. Well Bo had already
been picked 1st overall to the Buccaneers in the 1986 Draft but denied so he
could play baseball obviously, well, being an NFL GM you had to be a little
concerned that he wouldn't come play football or wouldn't be successful after
all that time away from the game. Well they were wrong, and the Los
Angeles Raiders stole the show on draft night selecting Jackson in the 7th
Round. That's right I said the 7th round. This guy ran a 4.12 40 time
and couldn't be stopped, and he was selected in the 7th Round. Bo did
make a Pro Bowl appearance in his short 4-year career, and could've had
more. In-between football season, he went back to playing baseball with
the Royals, and in the later part of his career, the Chicago White Sox.
In 1989, Bo won the MVP in the All-Star game, 1989 was the season he
dominated. He hit 32 homeruns, and hit over .250 along with 26 stolen
bases. Bo was fast, he was electric and one of the greatest players of
all time. He has an ESPN 30 for 30 documentary on him called, 'You Don't
Know Bo' I highly suggest looking at it. Very intriguing, and interesting
film. After all of this you can see why Bo Jackson is our #2 Greatest
Player of All Time.

#1 Greatest Player of All Time: LeBron James
Hello
to whoever may be reading this blog, and the future posts in, The Real
GOAT. GOAT stands for Greatest of All Time, and in my version it can be
about multiple things. The main topic throughout this entire blog
though, is going to be sports. Now with that being said, it can and it
will range from the best players of all time in any sport, as well as
the greatest games or moments in sports history. And just like that we
will begin. And I feel it's appropriate to start with an athlete. He
is a basketball player, a freak of nature, some would say he is the best
player ever in any sport put together. He is the King, he has a ring
now so the haters can knock it off, and he is in pursuit of another one
as we speak. I'm sure you already know who we're speaking of, so he
doesn't need no proper introduction. LeBron James, #6 Miami Heat.
LeBron is in his 9th season in the league and he has shined ever since
he walked upon the stage in a Cleveland uniform in 2003. He was the
first pick in the 2003 NBA Draft coming straight out of St. Vincent-St.
Mary High School. He was nicknamed the 'Chosen One' in high school and
was on the cover of ESPN Magazine and Sports Illustrated. He has won
the MVP award 4 times, All-NBA First Team 7 times, and was also the
Finals MVP in his lone Finals Championship in 2012. The people that are
always hating on LeBron are the ones who never watch his or the NBA.
Listen, LeBron is just 28 years old, what he has done in his career is
insane, how about they all get over themselves and realize what he is
doing is just fun to watch. Witness his greatness so you can tell your
kids about him one day. And for that reason LeBron James is #1 on my
list of Greatest Players of all Time.
